Star Trek officers should not be wearing hats. That just weirded me out. Even weirder than when Yogi asked to borrow my toothbrush.

We went and saw the movie yesterday. For whatever reason, the hats reminded my wife & I of of Nazi uniforms. They just DID NOT look complimentary. Perhaps it was a combination of the bland gray uniform combined with the over stuffy-looking/self-important hat, but I found found the soft cover to be much more appealing than the hard-brim hat.dfwmtx wrote:Star Trek officers should not be wearing hats. And, I'd LOVE to find out whatever materials were used in the ring, which was dropped in water to cause the initial explosion in the "Archive Data Center". When this comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray, I hope they have a "Director's Cut" which includes everything the director had intended to be included in the movie, just to see how much they cut out to get the movie down to 2 hours and 3 minutes. I'm sure there were scenes which would have generated an R-rating, had they been left in, like the crushing of someone's head in Khan's (AKA John Harrison) hands.
Also, in a DVD, they could have included a(n) alternate ending(s), which could have some a few different ways.
We both went in with NO expectations and enjoyed the movie, even with the predictable parts. Frankly, I'd LOVE to see Starfleet giving Kirk command of a Dreadnaught class bird and letting him loose to see what he can dig up, instead of always going out with his under-equipped/armed/armored Enterprise even on scientific explorations. His repeated combat contacts confirms the universe is a VIOLENT place and he should have the best weapons and defenses available even if all he's doing is SCIENTIFIC explorations. When the time comes, he NEEDS to be able to kick ass and take names so nobody bothers him when he shows up to simply observe and/or survey a new planet.
In other words, walk softly but carry a FUCKIN' BIG STICK (and be willing & prepared to use it)!!!
YMMV

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

My guess would be "the hard way."RangerWT wrote:I can't figure out how the USS Kelvin got into to deep space with only one warp nacelle.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

That's obvious:

Finally got some free time and was able to go see it. Started off strong, went to "oh that's where we're going with this," and ended up with "why did they just re-make The Wrath of Kahn?"
If Kirk had said "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one" the journey to the fail side would have been complete.
I had high hopes, but left the theater feeling disappointed.

I never lie.
Especially where movies are concerned.

I hadn't read the thread because I *hate* spoilers. Such is life.

This one was spoiled before I touched it.
