I assume the money is a plot device. (McGuffin) The overall amount wouldn't really be relevant beyond a certain amount.

Kommander, will do. Yogi, you're right. It's just to get the protagonist hunting the antagonist. I hate going any further because it's still in the "what do I write" stage. There has to be a pretty good amount of money to make it worthwhile though. The whole idea has been percolating since THIS. Go down about halfway.

Good acting requires an imagination; reality requires a person not getting lost in their imagination.

Red Team could have shielded comm equipment for use after the event, and classic cars/trucks (i.e. standard carburetors not susceptible to EMP) ready for E&E.

I've seen some theoretical stuff in open sources many moons ago about using directional microwave bursts to emulate an EMP. Don't know how far along it ever came along.

ETA: This is what I was thinking of

Th Russians came out with a EMP grenade with an effective diameter of a 1,000 yards. It is a little bigger than a Folgers one pound coffee can.

Do not know how to set it up as a booby trap.

Effect attenuated by materials nearby.

The stipulation that the guards need to be unhurt, then, leads me to believe that either they're the protagonist/sidekick duo, or at least one of them is a protagonist.

Which... um.

In a world where cash is king, one man is the only one* keeping it safe. He had it all: A steady job. (Badge shot) A purpose. (Money on a dolly). A partner. (Shot of partner's face) The love of his life.
(cut to strangely sexy armored car)
Until that all changed
(Rapid-cut shots of hero looking surprised, confused, then the partner being gunned down. Flash-shots of protagonist firing his sidearm. Close-up of protagonist's stunned, horrified face)
(Sexy armored car is on fire)
"No. No, no no please God no..."
(Fire blooms)
"Oh God no, oh God please no baby..."
(Sexy armored car explodes)
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
(Rapid-cut clips of magazines being stuffed into guns, knives being sheathed, boots being laced, and the cocking. Oh God, the cocking. EVERY GUN MUST BE VIGOROUSLY COCKED, AND HARD! CA-CLICK BEOTCH)
Now, he's on a RAMPAGE.
(Protagonist struts toward the camera, pointing a submachine gun in the air one-handed as he reloads it, and a car explodes in a fiery mushroom cloud behind him)
But he's not alone!
(Protagonist glares at scared woman)
"I'm going to get them, and you're going to help me."
Now, he's cashing them out and bouncing their checks.
(A rapid-fire set of split-second cuts starts, increasing frequency like the Prometheus space sonar ping or the Inception fart noise, giving us just enough to be told that the movie is awesome without giving anything away, and yet just enough so that when we actually see it, everything is somehow less satisfying than it should've been.)

ARMORED FIST: FISTFUL OF SEVENTY MILLION DOLLARS

Banker wife says that if it were all hundreds, a million bucks is about a cubic foot, give or take.
