...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

I haven't seen it yet.
A thought did occur to me - If it had been FW Godzilla, the movie would have been over in 10 minutes..

Re: Pacific Rim
Finally got to see Pacific Rim. If you haven't,
GO WATCH IT NOW.
I enjoyed the fuck out of Pacific Rim. There were looooots of subtle and not-so-subtle but highly enjoyable references to giant robot schtick, and I thought that the way they handled Mako as the love interest was a good example of how to go down a well-worn trope without being stupid about it. For example, they establish her as the love interest not by having her do bend-over shots or the like, but by having her simply show up and occasionally creep on Raleigh, in a cute and harmless sort of way. In the obligatory military action love interest scene, their sparring is a sensible back-and-forth that doesn't even establish a clear winner, which makes sense for the "drift compatible" concept. These are two people who really are operating on the same wavelength, and that wavelength is not merely "genital blood flow." They also both understand loss in a deep and meaningful way, and said loss was a formative experience in their lives.
I also liked that you didn't have to be lovers to be drift compatible. Different relationships helped; father/son, brother/brother, husband/wife, dude/bro, science/SCIENCE!, etc.
Also, it had giant robots punching giant monsters in the fucking face, without being a shitton of motion blur like Transformers, and a total lack of Shia LeBouf. Basically this movie was everything Transformers wishes it could've been, and more.

Would you believe I haven't seen it? Sounds cool, including the lack of gift beef from god.Jericho941 wrote:

Comment was aimed more at Yogi or anyone who'd download this without paying. Like said, it's worth the DVD price because you'll be watching it repeatedly since it's full of awesome.

Re: Pacific Rim
I just finished watching the movie, and it is a hoot. I generally don't like most modern movies, the digital special effects having taken over the film. Well, this one IS special effects, be all and end all. It's mindless escapism at its best. Silly but fun. And be sure and watch through the credits.
