U-Verse just added METV and they are showing episodes of 12 O'clock High and Combat!. On at Oh-Gawd-Thirty, but that's the beauty of DVRs.

Grabbed a bunch and watching them as time and desire permits. Remember watching them as a kid, but it's a whole different perspective now. Hell, when "playing army" as a kid and sneaking through the woods, I could hear the incidental music from Combat! in my head.

Yeah, some Hollywood script writer silliness.

But if nothing else good to see shows that don't automatically portray the military as victims, full of existential angst when not killing old women and raping babies (or was that supposed to be...).

And there's no Rah Rah YAY US! Kill the dirty Hun! schmaltz.

Just ordinary guys with human faults trying to do the best jobs they can in a dirty but necessary business.

Also,

Because Garands!

Because B-17s!

I've been watching more (paying more attention to) TV since I got the eye done. I can see the pixels from across the room now! LOL  Been watching all sorts of stuff... lately I've been enjoying the Pinks reruns and Pass Time on Speed channel. I got a bunch of movies for Xmas, I really should watch them. We did one while at the sister's, on their hdtv/widescreen and all--House Of Flying Daggers. It is a beautifully filmed Chinese deluxe karate movie, rather like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. When we watched it, we left it in original Chinese, and the English subtitles seemed to be mostly missing. I thought it added to the experience. ;) It was still very entertaining, and the cinematography is amazing.

My dad liked to joke that Combat! damn near got him killed.

I just made the mistake of watching "In the Name of the King", which is proof that no matter how many big names you put in a movie, it can still completely and totally suck.

SOA? Jax isn't Hamlet but then again, there's that Mother/Father/Uncle/betrayal thing going on...

Breaking Bad? Hmmm, first rule of holes? Stop digging. MacBeth, or any other tragic figure of the Bard come to mind?
Maybe that's what it is. I didn't have a problem wrapping my mind around Shakespeare. Now this stuff seems derivative, I guess.

As I understand Uwe Boll's films are basically a way of scamming the German government.

"Archer". I didn't like the non-sensical-ness of its predecessor, "Frisky Dingo", but I'm enjoying the hell out of this. Kinda like how "Venture Brothers" is the failure parody of "Johnny Quest", "Archer" is the failure parody of spy shows.

My favorite (from commercials, I've never actually sat down and watched a full episode):
Malory: Because most secret agents don't tell every harlot from here to Hanoi that they ARE secret agents.

Archer: Then why be one?

I'm a huge fan of Breaking Bad. BE, have you watched it up to its current place, or are you catching up? Do you like it very much?

For me? Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead. Those are my shows.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.
