Oh, yeah. That's because I repressed the memory. That scene had one of the most jarringly tension-breaking lines I've ever had the misfortune of reading in my entire life.

They'll just have to rewrite that part of the screen-play to amp up the drama,... though I can comfortably predict that there will be NO movie made from this book. Too much flabble in it.

American Sniper by Chris Kyle. Egotistical as hell, thinks his stuff doesn't stink. Admits he was lucky as hell.

The Monuments Men by Robert M. Edsel. Fascinating book, reads more like a spy novel. True story about a VERY small group of men who investigated art thefts by the Germans in WW II, and how they kept the Allies from destroying many architectural wonders of Europe. They weren't always successful but, damn. Edsel says he's writing a book about the Monuments Men in Italy also. Couldn't fit the whole story into one book. I recommend this one to anyone who has an interest in WW II in Europe. Very offbeat compared to others about the war.

The Garner Files autobiography of James Garner. Read the thing in about an hour. Found out he's a decent actor but a pretentious sonofabitch; ill tempered, mean spirited, and a FLAMING liberal.

Colossuss by Michael Hiltzik Story of the building of Hoover Dam

Glock: The Rise of America's Gun by Paul M. Barrett

Just got done with Lunatics by Dave Barry and Alan Zweibel, courtesy of the El Paso Public Library.

If you like cheap laughs that read like a skit, this book is for you. Highly recommended.

Finally finished the reread of Foote's Civil War: A Narrative, then finished Monster Hunter Vendetta. Started MH Alpha last night. I was a bit surprised to find it about Earl Harbinger, not Owen Zastava Pitt.

Just started on the Wheel of Time series. I've been told dozens of times I needed to read it, just hadn't gotten around to doing so yet. Plus, the cover blurb set me back a little; "Jordan has come to dominate the world Tolkein began to reveal." Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but if it's anything like the absurdly long-winded Tolkein material I'm going to be somewhat miffed...

Just read the first two books unless you like words, words, and more words.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."
