Is the upcoming "Monster Hunter Alpha" a short-story collection from the MHI universe or a new story altogether?

I think it is a fully new story that fits into the previose two ( though I have heard some talk that it as a prequel not a sequel). Tanya is just short story that Baen paid Larry for so they could use it as a featured short story on their web site.

Back in the late 80's I used to work for a company called Games Workshop. They had this Warhammer and Warhammer 40K alternate universe with the Orcs and the Elves and all that stupid bollocks. Except I don't think that they were allowed to call them Orcs at that time, because that name was licensed by Tolkiens family.
That may be why their called "Orks" ;)

As for Games Workshop, I always avoided Warhammer40K because it couldn't be played cheaply(something I'm almost certain is by design) - for a decent army, you're looking at over 200 bucks in minifigs. Then there's the various codexs. Sorry, but it's not gonna happen. Also, the relentless grimdark setting, where EVERYBODY IS SCROOOWED! is frankly, kinda dull.

Something you may want to look up is the Angry Marines - 4chan's psychotic homebrew chapter of space marines, that somebody even came up with a codex for. I might add that it's one of the funniest things I've come across in awhile

Given the name, I've been operating under the assumption that Alpha is a novel about the beginnings of MHI, back under Bubba Shackleford.

Alpha is going to be mostly about Earl kicking ass, and rembering about other bounties he has collected.

That's what Larry has said. And apparently Earl has a girlfriend in it.

Not like he didn't have the women after him and his "animal magnetism" - just remember what happened to Dorcas (in Vendetta), and how it happened.
