This one has been annoying me.
1980s-ish. Scene where the protagonist is working as a saleman in a hi-fi shop. A poor young couple comes in, and he's getting them interested in some gigantic, enormous speaker cabinets: "when you die, they can bury you in them too". However, our hero has a change of heart, and recommends a budget model instead.
Anybody remember that movie?

That quote is in the list of quotes from "Ruthless people" (1986), the character was Ken Kessler, played by Judge Reinhold.

We have a winner! That was it - other than that one quote, the movie was entirely forgettable.Erik wrote:That quote is in the list of quotes from "Ruthless people" (1986), the character was Ken Kessler, played by Judge Reinhold.

And as a clincher, does our hero have a change of heart because the mark's pregnant girlfriend walks in?
That movie was very funny, in a lowbrow, turn-off-your-brain kind of way.

My brain must have been turned off. I can remember nothing at all about the movie, except that one scene and the line "... and when you die, they can bury you in it".
Funny how memory works (or doesn't)....

"This could very well be the stupidest person on the face of the Earth."
I think it was Bill Pullman's first movie.
"I've been kidnapped by K-Mart!"
I usually can't stand Bette Midler, but I liked her in this.
