Akshully the 5th season was more afterthought than not, as the decision to even have a 5th season was left so late as to cause most of the major plot lines to be wrapped up at the end of season 4. Most of the 5th season feels like they're marking time. Not Straczynski's fault, he actually did have a plan, but the suits wouldn't commit early enough to allow said plan to unfold. Wasn't the same without Ivanova, either but she bailed over contractual issues (i.e, she wanted more, they wouldn't pay, asta la vista, baby...)Jered wrote:The Cylons have a plan. Remember Babylon 5? The creator had a plan...the whole five seasons were ONE big storyline - that was planned from the first day.

No plan survives contact with the enemy. And the suits are the natural enemy of any creative person.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

I daresay the flashbacks to Caprica are a setup for the prequel.

They don't even have "And they have a plan" in the opening credits anymore. Oh, well. Galactica suicide mission anyone?

I saw an interesting bit of speculation in a BSG thread over at arfcom--the Galactica or some survivors may go back in time through the black hole mentioned in last night's episode, thus renewing the cycle.

True...but JMS started B5 with all plot lines planned out. He had to modify them on occasion, but he ALWAYS knew where he was going. The BSG team clearly lost the bubble about midway through season 3.0.Drone 7 of lots more wrote:Akshully the 5th season was more afterthought than not, as the decision to even have a 5th season was left so late as to cause most of the major plot lines to be wrapped up at the end of season 4. Yeah, Straczynski had a plan... it was called Lord of the Rings.
It's a lot better in the original Quenya.
