...and a fun 8 with actual relationship potential at that.

Sorry, call me jaded, but
1) This is Southern Cal. Stunningly attractive women fall out of trees hereabouts.
2) I work in a business where I see, quite literally, hundreds of women as or more attractive than Katy Perry in an average month. While I, Like Ron White, would agree that after you've seen one set of boobs, you pretty much want to see them all, the experience of seeing how many there are, on an inexhaustible annual basis, takes some of the luster off the absolute novelty.
3) As shows like American Idol and X-Factor underscore, ability to carry a tune, while a wonderful talent, isn't nearly as rare as one might think. Nor even that ability coupled with the aforementioned looks.
4) Broke music stars are as common as broken bottles, not least of which owing to an industry spring-loaded to loot others' fortunes right out from under their noses. Any familiarity with the music industry would suffice, but one need look no farther than Billy Joel and Elton John to find recent examples, and unlike Katy Perry, those two actually write the hit songs, rather than simply singing them, and without autopitch.
If she manages to survive her 15 minutes of fame relatively intact and at some expectably elevated level of prosperity compared to us normal folks, good for her.
But she's shown no extraordinary gift for common sense, and the odds are heavily weighted the other way.

Pretty girls are fungible.
Katy Perry is "Unique" enough to stand out, not because of physical attributes but because of a meticulously crafted image that tweenies can relate to.
