Any Longmire watchers out there?

My wife got into it in Season 1. Watching some of season 2, not bad so far.

I got turned off during the first show when they were saying that there are no .45-70 rifles being made today so it had to be antique. I know it's not reality but use a LITTLE common sense. The only character I liked was the female deputy, played Starbuck on the new Battlestar Galactica.

I just finished watching the first three seasons of Justified and enjoyed the heck out of it. Convoluted story, interesting characters and lots of humor.

I'm a regular watcher, been watching it since the begining. The handguns in the show make we wonder sometimes though. Longmire himself carries a 1911. Fitting for a western lawman but he carries it in what appears to be condition 2. The hammer is always down and he never racks the slide. Vic (Starbuck) carries a Glock of some kind. This fits for her because she used to be a big city cop from back east (Boston I think, but don't remember). Branch (deputy that ran again Longmire in last election) carries what appears to be an older S&W SW9VE (or .40). This is totally out of place I think for someone born and raised in the area. The other deputy (can't even remember his name) carries what appears to be a 6" S&W model 28 Highway Patrolman in a Uncle Mike's nylon holster. Longmires friend Henry (the native american bar owner) keeps a Beretta 92 under the bar. I don't remember him ever mentioning any military experience, so this seems out of place also for someone born and raised in the area.

However, most people would never notice this and the most likely answer is the prop guys just grabbed what was handy.

Binge watched Season 1 this summer. I'll be getting in to Season 2 for certain.

Not perfect in some the stuff mentioned above, but not any real suspension of disbelief stuff either. I enjoy the main characters, really enjoy the setting of the show and like the overall tone/direction. It's not Joe Pickett but it'll do for now till they decide make a series of a C.J. Box character like that.

Love justified, one of the best shows in TV.

Longmire is on "the list"... i.e. the list of tv shows to suck down in three or four episode binges when time allows.

In the past few months I've re-watched the entirety of "the shield", "the sopranos", "entourage", the new "Dr. Who"... a couple others I can't think of right now. Netflix, hulu, dvd and bittorrent... Binge watching is SO much better than watching shows week by week.

This is in large part why I chucked cable and even broadcast TV over a decade ago.
All of the content, none of the commercials, talk-over, crawl-under hell that it's become, and the pause button for meal and pottie breaks, on my time schedule.

... the books, unsurprisingly, are MUCH better, than an already great show. HIGHLY recommended. Quite similar in many ways to the Bo Tully mysteries of Patrick McManus, but with less absurdity and satire (though not much less humor).

Wow, Pat McManus...there's a name I haven't seen in a while. My dad (requiescat in pace) turned me on to his short story collections. Still have a couple (Never Sniff a Gift Fish and Real Ponies Don't Go OINK!)
