Re: Ray Bradbury, RIP
While I was a bachelor for a few years between marriages, my low-rent bachelor-apartment refrigerator was missing a foot. I used my copy of Dandelion Wine to prop up the right front corner.
Years later I was looking through a box of books at my mother-in-law's house and found Dandelion Wine with a big round divot in the cover and said "Hey! That's mine!"
Thank you, Mr. Bradbury, for so many memories.

This reminds me of a scene in some forgettable, low-grade, Sci-Fi, post-apocalyptic movie. The power went out and the teen-ager was complaining that she couldn't play any games. The adult said "read a book." The teen asked "what's a 'book?'"Dinochrome wrote:"You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them. "
Ray Bradbury
How many of our youngest generation don't read books?
...
The adult handed her a hard-back and delivered my favorite line: "It's a non-volatile, data-storage medium."
Love it.

In fairness, he was talking about Fahrenheit 451 in that quote.HTRN wrote:Interestingly, he seems to have been a bit of a Luddite - “I don’t try to describe the future, I try to prevent it.”.
