Mobiles as a gaming platform won't be limited "mobile gaming." It may well become the core that is used even for more traditional gameplay. Qualcomm has demonstrated capability at CES to link the mobile wirelessly to HD monitors and traditional input devices using UWB (ultra wideband).UWB is to blue tooth what dialup is to cable or even fiberchannel.

That's what will really drive the "smart device as PC" paradigm. Think of something like the Motorola Atrix/Photon with the ability to roll your own keyboard/monitor/etc. choices rather than being tied to proprietary docking hardware. That's what I'm looking for. Cloud security will have to improve quite a bit as well to overcome reluctance to adopt.blackeagle603 wrote:Mobiles as a gaming platform won't be limited "mobile gaming." When I was in college I used to play those console games like crazy. In grade school it was video games at the arcade and 7-11 store. I can't guess how many quarters went into Donkey Kong. I was into Quake and all those FPS games via network. It takesa lot of time to hone your skills. And those console games with a long story and path you have to follow...campaign games. No time for them now. I'll take Angry Birds or Peggle or Locksmith or Myst or something like that, so that I can start playing now, get interrupted, and resume without losing my Mojo or interrupting a crucial action in the game. NO having to start over or lose 3 hours game play because the save game icon is just past the unreachable monster. I got sick of games that required perfect pixel alignment or your guy dies.
