Do you get the Two Fat Ladies over there? Brilliant.
PBS used to carry it. Can't beat a cooking show where the host goes out and shoots the grouse for dinner.

I'd love to see Alton Brown do an episode on beef/pork/chicken and start the recipe off with "well, first we need a cow/pig/chicken" and then hold up a bolt gun(for either the pig or cow) or a hatchet(for the chicken) and then give that twisted smirk of his at the camera.

And then proceed to do it on camera.

With that said, I've been wanting to take Tom Mylan's pig butchering class at Brookyn Kitchen(pretty much along with every other class they offer - who doesn't want to learn the intricacies of sausages or cheesemaking?)

Latterly, I have noticed that TV chefs are not shying away from the fact that meat is dead animals. Jamie Oliver went game shooting to bag the ingredients for his show, and others are following along in the same vein.

Yes, but game shooting birds is somewhat less traumatic to the average sheeple than say, stunning a berkshire hog with a bolt gun, hanging it head down while unconscious, and then slitting it's throat so the still beating heart pumps most of the blood out of the carcass.

Go look at some of the youtube vids to see how it's done - it's not exactly something most people will be comfortable with.

Oh, I know how it's done - I come from a farming family, and I know how to make black pudding too... :-) It's true that it doesn't make primetime viewing very often (or at all).

Hell, I grabs eggs and the occasional chicken from the coup(sp?) behind work all the time. If my family or some female friend I'm cooking dinner for found out where the food came from they would probably go ape$hit.
