Dumb Question #723 (non-firearms)

What will happen if I were to use (actually re-use) RAM that is slower than specified for the Mobo. Specifically, 533Mhz DDR2 in place of 667Mhz or 800Mhz RAM.

If it only just runs a little slower, I may wait a while to get new RAM. 8-)

<edit> DDR2 in all cases. The only variation is speed </edit>

As long as the motherboard can handle it, then it should work. Unless something has changed between DDR and DDR2 ram.

You will of course lose some performance.

yup thats about it... though if you have 800 in and you put 667 in as well, the 800 might slow down... but unless you are a gamer, you probably wont notice... in fact, since you are asking, i can guess that you wont notice.
