BIT: Speaker wire for off road lights

Post by Weetabix »

Is all 14 ga wire the same? If I wanted to put a 20W flood on the rear of my roof rack (and I do), is there any reason I should not use 14 ga direct bury speaker wire? It seems perfect - 2 conductors in a black shield that's water proof.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

For a 20W flood? More than enough, especially in a direct bury insulator. 14-gauge should be good for almost 100W over any distance you're likely to encounter, unless the roof rack is at the top rear of a schoolbus.
