Looking for an EMR solution for three small rehab clinics

Post by Cybrludite »

Downside of being known as a "computer genius" is the occasional call from folks looking for advice. (Because computer stuff is all the same, right? ) A friend's mom is looking for info on an electronic medical record system for a group of three in-patient rehab facilities with a total of around 70 beds or so. They have a billing system, which would have to be either integrated or replaced. Their size and lack of IT infrastructure has me thinking a web-based solution might be a better choice that setting up their own servers. (I'm guessing between a dozen and twenty charting stations, depending on the nurse/patient ratio.) They don't even know what sort of budget they'll need for this, so I'm expecting some sticker shock. Any suggestions? I've been negatively impressed with Epic's customer support, and my employer's previous solution was a nasty in-house kluge.

All EMRs do suck, just in different and occasionally novel ways. :-/

Do they have an existing EMR solution, or are they still pure paper?

I wonder if Athena would do a system that size. They're all web based.

You'll shoot your eye out!

I know a guy who has been either in or near this for years. Want me to give him a shout?

Every EMR known to man sucks balls.

They've got an electronic billing system, but everything else is in dead tree format.

My buddy does sort of niche EMR. He suggests:
-HealthMedX - based in Ozark, offer web-based solution healthmedx.com
-HealthcareFirst - based in Springfield, offer web-based solution myhealthcarefirst.com
-Cerner - based in KC, not sure about how they deliver cerner.com
-McKesson Homecare - Homecare is based in Springfield, may offer a quasi-web-based solution, but I'm not sure the extent of their presence in the EMR marketplace or the in-patient market. I used to work there, but things have changed since I left, so I'm not sure the direction they're going. They are probably really expensive. http://www.mckesson.com/providers/home- ... -homecare/
