I ran across this on Fox News' website today, a sleek sort of station wagon design taken from the new C7 Corvette:

Callaway builds some interesting cars, of course. I don't think I'd ever heard the term "shooting brake" before, but I get the idea--the Volvo 1800ES wagon was the first thing that came to mind. Here's the wikipedia article on the subject:

Aston used to build them. Old (say 1995 1/2 country LWB) Range Rovers were superb shooting brakes - and designed to be used as such.

Even the new Range Rovers have exposed metal in the back, etc.

There is a totally restored Volvo 1800ES in my neighbours garage that his dad bought new and my wife's car is the Dodge Magnum.

I look at it and think they tried making a Corvette hatchback.

It's a well-known term this side of the big pond.

The 'classic' shooting break is a two-door station wagon with space in the back for a gun tray, picnic basket and champagne cooler.

I like that Corvette a lot, it's nicely done.
I can think of some really nice shooting brakes built on classic or older cars - Astons, Jag XJS's etc

Perfect for the drive-by shooting... just shoot 'em and load 'em up.

Nobody but nobody uses that term on this side of the water.

But after looking it up, oh you mean a CRX. Those were awesome.
