My Vizio tv has been acting up lately. It gets stuck on the "Vizio" load screen for 20 minutes to a day or two (I randomly turn it on crossing my fingers). Since it is from 2009, it is out of warranty. Vizio gave me to places that are qualified repair outlets:

Anyone have any experience with either or know of a good repair outlet?

Since your screen isn't cracked, a repair might actually be worth looking into. YMMV. I do know that for quite a while, it was cheaper to just go buy a new one.

In many cases, replacement is cheaper than repair... That sounds like it is probably a processor problem which in all likelihood would require a replacement circuit board... IF even any are available.

New ones w. better refresh rate can be had for $300-325 if you shop around. Keep an eye on Woot! They often have Vizio specials.

When was the last time you COMPLETELY disconnected the power for more than just an hour or two?

I would give a try to disconnecting the power for sufficient time to allow all the capacitors to discharge (might take a day, but shouldn't be anywhere near as long as with a regular CRT). I've also heard of getting a full discharge by pressing the power button for at least 5 seconds while the unit is completely disconnected from power (including any batteries/battery packs to hold favorite channels, etc, should the house power go out).

If nothing else, it might be worth a try.

I saw multiple 42" models from Sharp, Samsung, Sony, Vizio and LG for under $500.

And I paid ~$220 for a 32" LG about 4 months back...

So, you have a price range idea as to what a new 37" will run... Frankly, I doubt you will find someone that will work on it plus parts for under $200.
