Need Some Website Help (WordPress)

It's been quite a long time since I've done any HTML work, and I'm quite certainly not up on the current standards. My wife and I are working on a website for my business, but are running into some issues which should be easy to overcome but I'm just not getting the HTML right and my Google-foo isn't strong right now.

I would appreciate any assistance we could get from the HTML geeks on this forum.

Please contact me through the forum email link, or my Google mail service address at: ms42197

TIA!

What is this HTML of which you speak?

No-one has used HTML in years.

Only half joking there. HTML5 isn't actually HTML anymore.

XHTML with CSS and XML... but not really HTML.
Understood, but all we're after is some fairly simple, static web pages (to begin with).

That's what I meant. I wrote my webpage in the TextEdit app on my Macbook. I tried to use the iWeb site builder, but it was all Greek to me. My buddy who bought the VEPR used to write his webpages using vi. :ugeek:

The last time I made a full set of web pages, I used NOTEPAD, and was able to avoid any and all scripting. I'm talking about stuff BEFORE HTML 4.

My wife is using a website-building application called WordPress, and it came with her domain registration.

We're looking to stretch a background image to fit the screen (although we realize it might look funny if the viewer is using a VERY wide monitor, one without scalable compensation of the image for height). You know, something along the lines of:

Code: Select all

background-image-TAGS; size width="100%" height="100%">
If you know HTML enough to read that and understand what we're trying to do, and have MUCH more experience than I do (and can stretch a background image), I'd really like to discuss this via email.

It's not very deep stuff, but so far it appears when you want to learn such things, everyone wants you to take a course. I understand it's all interrelated, but we're not looking at making a complicated page(s) - it all really quite basic once you understand what we want. However, my old HTML skills are better suited to doing things (spotting errors) and grabbing items than reprogramming a malfunctioning web page.

We're writing the content, but we need someone experienced to clean it up. I'm WAYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy outta' date in regards to my web programming skills. It's been difficult staying up-to-date while trying to take care of my wife and mom while looking for a job (other than the part-time photographer job I currently have).

We'd probably have a few more questions, but we also prefer to do the work ourselves while learning along the way. This way, we can fix things without bothering others, *IF* we have the knowledge to fix it. BOTH OF US are very quick learners and quick studies (even as my memory doesn't work as well as it used to).

If you'd like to help, please get a-hold of us (my wife and I), so we may discuss the issue.

TIA!
