Got dem old Firefox blues.

Post by Rich »

O.K., it's really not that serious, but is an annoyance.

I'm surfing along with Opera, happy as a warm clam in butter, when I went to do some on-line money management at a bank with a serious horse fetish. When I get an error message saying my browser wasn't recognized by the bank. It seems they now only will deal with customers using IE, Safari, or Firefox.

So, I figured that I would change over to Firefox, even though it would be a bother, since I was so comfortable using Opera.

I did so, and ran into the following problem:

When I read my daily comics, Firefox won't pull up MA3. It doesn't give any error message of any kind, just indicates it is done loading and presents a blank screen. Opera loads and displays it just fine.

Note, I also have Oglaf and Moon over June in my comics, and they both show up, so I don't think it's a content problem.

So, right now I'm using Firefox mainly for banking, and Opera for everything else.

'Tis a puzzlement.

That series works fine for me in Firefox. Weird. I even have NoScript and AdBlock Plus running.

Try reinstalling Firefox over the top of itself.

Firefox has been made of nothing but fail since they went from 3.6.x to ... uh... everything since. And the latest versions of Adobe Flash REALLY don't get along with Firefox. To the point that the video card in my desktop died completely Saturday night. But it was a GeForce 8300 GS, so it was probably a POS to begin with.

D'oh! (Rich hits forhead with heel of hand, in what was called "The Polish Salute").

The solution was dreadfully simple. Just navigate to the website and save the bookmark (it doesn't seem to matter if it renders completely or not). Then delete your old bookmark. The new one works just fine.

I apologize for posting this like it was a real problem or something.
