Offer letter is in hand, off to go do the leak test this morning. I should start Monday.

No matter how good they look, avoid the poppy seed bagels. ;)

Congratulations.

Don't care for them in the first place... But I always have problems with my background check, my name was used by a multiple felon during a DUI arrest so I always show up as a known alias of him. I get delayed by the NICS every time I buy something because of it.

I don't care much for poppy seed anything either, but I always hear those jokes whenever time comes for me to take a drug test. :)

Interesting. Name thing sucks. Google tells me there are several people who have the same first and last name I do, and at least one of them (not me!) is a ne'er-do-well with a dubious future, but I've never had trouble during any checks (NICS always goes through fast, that sort of thing) because of it. Possibly it's my charming middle name.

So in my case, I was sitting at home in my apartment shortly after my 21st b-day when I got a call from a buddy saying that I was in jail and his car was getting towed. Obviously I was rather shocked to hear this and I immediately knew what happened. So I go and pick up the owner of the car and head down the road to the parking lot where his car is. There are cops everywhere and as soon as I pull up, they ask for my DL. So I hand it over and they start all shaking my hand saying it is nice to meet me.

My buddy, had given them my name when they pulled him over for a headlight being out. He had been doing coke and some kind of prescription pills that evening so he was out of it. They pulled him out of the squad car and did a more extensive search, finding his ID in his shoe. As the cop was looking at it, he reached up to his shoulder to key his mic and flipped it over to look at the back of it. He immediately hollers out "Someone get me a test kit"... Turns out there was cocaine stuck to the back of the ID.

I find it impossible to come up with any way you can possibly be more guilty of possession than to have it stuck to your ID.

So they got him on DUI, possession, driving on a suspended license, and uttering a forgery to a LEO. Top it all off, he was out on bond for his 6th driving on a suspended license charge when it all happened. He was tried as a felony habitual traffic offender and did more than a year for all of that.

So yea, my name comes up as an alias for that.

Course it does not help that a couple of years later I was arrested for "Accessory to criminal mischief after the fact", which is about as serious as jaywalking. While I was never convicted and the charges were dropped, the arrest is listed as a felony arrest even though it was only a REALLY minor misdemeanor.

All of that is way more than 10 years old so it should not be an issue in any way, but it still crops up from time to time.

It's odd, but I never get that...

Is it the same word that we insert when we're irritated with you? :P
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

I hear it's even worse if you've ever had your identity stolen. :o :(
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
