A) Damn, as I have an iPhone 4 - yes, I realize Android is a better system but iPhones integrate well w. my mac... (I would like to get a dual CDMA-GSM phone for traveling.)

B) I meant more as an auxiliary phone. Something just to take to the beach/running, etc... Although, I don't mind just leaving it behind, but, as I plan to spend more time goofing off, it would help to have some means of communicating, but I view my current phone as a pain. (I would either port my google voice number over to it, and just use it as a pre-paid plan, or run GV on it, and still leave it as a cheap pre-paid plan.)

We use CDMA for work - I'm sure to the pros here, the additional security seems silly, but it makes me feel better.

I only use GV for dates and car dealers, but I could easily set up my work number to forward to it. (I have 3 rather compartmentalized numbers - technically 4, but my extension off the main is only listed w various public listings and goes straight to voice mail)

Something like a Nokia candybar dumb phone would fit the bill perfectly. You can have GV forward calls to anything, though proper GV integration from a dumb phone could be problematic.

A dumb phone on a prepaid plan wouldn't be very expensive, either. (I imagine there's a limit to how much you're willing to spend just for a relatively minor 'nice to have'.) Any credit for minutes you put in does expire (either in 90 days or a year, depending on the carrier and how much you're put in) but the upside is that for all carriers I know of, putting more money into the plan resets the expiration clock for all the money you have in there.

An LG VX 5500 is small, inexpensive, and works with either pre-pay or a regular Verizon plan. It has a lot of features for a cheap "dumb" phone.

candybar with a slideout keyboard would be best for this application. There's several available.

Those do add weight and volume, just like they do with smartphones. Any particular reason to have one if you're not texting a lot? (That's the only reason I can think of for a hardware qwerty keyboard on a dumb phone, crazy texting. I had a former coworker who went through all the Nokia 682x series butterfly phones back in the day.)

Texting, basic email, but mostly because they have bigger and better screens.

If you can find one, one of the Nokia Asha phones would be appealing. But I imagine there's a limit to how much money you want to put into a dumb phone in this day and age.
