HS Kid Builds Reactor, Kicked Out Of Science Fair

Post by skb12172 »

at least the lady who kicked him out got her ass fired for it. Somehow, I think this kid will end up better off than her, down the line...
A Wyoming high school senior who built a nuclear reactor was disqualified from the International Science and Engineering Fair this month on a technicality.

It seems that 18-year-old Conrad Farnsworth of Newcastle had competed in too many science fairs.

According to the Casper Star-Tribune (http://bit.ly/16vSW4c), the infraction was reported by the former director of the Wyoming State Science Fair, who later did not have her contract renewed. Officials at the University of Wyoming, which sponsors the state event, said after the international fair that the director acted outside her authority.

It's Alive!!!

I wonder if this kid is related to Philo Farnsworth, one of the inventors of television?

Participated in too many science fairs? Well, we certainly can't be sanctioning that sort of behavior.

You'd be amazed (or maybe not) about how the other little gems' teachers would be all over it, if he won after having violated an eligibility technicality. The teachers get intensely competitive in the extra-curricular realm. They'd have had her job, too.

What she should have done is told him, "I'm sorry, you missed a technicality on eligibility, but this is the coolest thing ever. Let's feature it as a non-competitive project."
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Common sense from a school admiistrator? Psh...Incidently, I agree, but it is too late now, because she's busy looking for another job.

Do you really want to try screwing with a guy who can build his own nuclear reactor?

Might as well try cuckolding a pig farmer while you're about it...
