Hi all...
The Audio/Video Gods have been VERY VERY good to me, and I have a quandary...
I lucked into a "promotion-code" and got a Pioneer VSX-1021 Receiver for $299 (that's a $250 savings off the going rate.) The package arrived a couple of days ago - I looked at it and closed the box as it's Wifey's Christmas present (along with a new turntable).
For those who may not know, Pioneer has gone all-out with the iOS integration, and there's an app that lets an iOS device be a full-featured remote... But I digress...
Tonight I learned that my local BestBuy has the ELITE VSX-51 -- basically the same receiver but from their "elite" line -- for $249!
I figure it will cost me most of the $50 savings to ship the one I have back, with insurance, by the time I add in gas & etc to go back to get the "better" one...
My question is ultimately "is the "elite" line so much better that it would be worth the hassles? From what I've been able to tell from looking at the available documentation on http://www.pioneerelectronics.com, I can't really find adime's worth of difference between them...
Any and all input appreciated!

Re: Need input on A/V Receiver
I didn't notice this the first time around.
Since the shipping charge would negate the savings, I would tend to keep what you have - ALTHOUGH if you think you *MIGHT* need service on the unit (usually quite unlikely), the scales would tip towards the Best Buy option (as much as I HATE Best Buy - they still have some good deals once in a while). I say that because Best Screwjob is local to you, whereas your options for anything related to your current purchase might be a little more complicated if you need anything done.
That said, most electrical problems occur during the first 30 days - otherwise you're probably good to go (and might not be worth the amount of worry or concern regarding doing everything to change it to a Best Buy purchase, UNLESS you think it might have some problems).
YMMV

As a matter of general philosophy, I would say if the one you have satisfied you before learning of this "elite" unit, keep it.
You know, that old bird in the hand thing.
BTW, welcome back.

Re: Need input on A/V Receiver
The real question is whether the Elite line is really that much better...
Bottom line: I can get "elite" for about the same $ as the "regular pioneer" but would have the hassles of returning the standard one...

DD, what, exactly, are you looking for?
A dedicated stereo amplifier to listen to music, or a Home theater receiver?
