So I was curious after having a (short) discussion with a work colleague on the relative success that the French have had in military confrontations. I decided to do a Google search and yeah, I selected the "I feel lucky" button.
Check out my result:

Looks like they reeled in another one: if you look at the URL in the screen capture, it's NOT Google.com, it's
http://www.albinoblacksheep.com.

Yeah, sorry I'm not up in "the know" on that google bomb stuff, but I seriously just typed it in and that's what I got. It was new to me and I found it funny...

They've had a few victories, but nothing major sine the beginning of the 20th century.
That said, I can only THANK them for what their country did to support us when this free nation experiment was starting out and we needed help against the British. For that, I'll be FOREVER grateful and thankful. But they shouldn't confuse their past assistance and sacrifice to help us as permission to abuse the very nation that freed them TWICE from German oppression.
If I was a Frenchman, I would be FOREVER grateful and thankful for the sacrifices made to free my country while hundreds of US servicemen died on my shores and lands.
IF another nation had made so great a sacrifice to keep us free, I would be tempted to buy any of their service personnel a drink at least, perhaps even a meal to express my gratitude at still having freedom.
Even today, I went and had my hair cut and bought a Marine and a Navy man their haircuts (the only servicemen in the place) and thanked them both for their service. It wasn't much (cost-wise either), but it showed my gratitude at their service to our nation and both REALLY appreciated it. The Marine asked how could he repay me (because I told him his money is no good while I'm there), and I told him to do the same when he gets older to keep spreading the appreciation and thanks. He nodded and seemed happy with that.
If I was a French businessman and an American serviceman came into my establishment, I'd do what I could to show my gratitude for their country's sacrifices - so many LIVES to keep my country free.
Even though I'm a former Marine, I thank God there are still men of quality who WILLINGLY
volunteer to put on the uniform of a branch of the United States military and are willing to FIGHT to keep us free.
If *I* was a Fwenchie, I would probably take a trip yearly to Normandy to give thanks to those who gave their all to keep us free.

GOD BLESS THE AMERICANS!!!![/center]

Bashing the French is great passtime for all true Americans, and one which I partake in often and enjoyably.
On the other hand, a couple of French soldiers were wounded on the other side of town yesterday so 'tis neither the time nor the place.
