Time for New Orleanians to live up to our reputation for being crazy drunks! Me, I'll be out in the 'burbs tomorrow, likely dozing on the Metairie parade route. (And dressed pretty normally for a day off, except for the tinfoil I'll be adding to my hat) Between this and being more short-handed than normal, I'm hoping to be recovered by the time the Austin meet-up rolls around...

The only problem with Mardi Gras in central Illinois is a distinct lack of paczykis.

Let me get this straight: Our pre-lenten celebration involves drunken co-eds showing their bewbs in exchange for cheap plastic trinkets, and Chicago's involves jelly doughnuts?

I haven't been to Jenkinson's Halloween Party, but Halloween in the Quarter, IMHO, beats the pants off Mardi Gras.

No, they show them year 'round. There's just many more of them during Carnival.

Ah. Got it. Still, I'd rather go with the paczykis. Those only show up once a year. The other stuff, I can bide my time.
