I went to the market this morning. First thing that hit me was guys walking out with flowers, red roses, mainly. Then it hit me. It's Valentine's day. And it's 7 a.m.

Go into the store, and customers are 95% male. All buying flowers. Except me. I'm buying beer. I see one lone female customer. She's pretty attractive. She sees me looking at her. And scurries away.

Takes me a minute to process. I may not look like Brad Pitt, but I'm not Quasimodo, either. I see the woman again at checkout. She has her eyes downcast. Then I realize. She's wearing sweats, no makeup, and has her hair in a ponytail. She probably thinks she made a mistake. I'm thinking, if you look this good like that . . . Alas, she is wearing as wedding ring. And is in the next line.

Every other customer checking out is male, and is buying flowers. One guy is buying a half dozen or so arrangements. The woman has just a few items, like ice cream. 7 a.m., on a Saturday. Valentine's Day.

And I remember thinking, "Those poor schmucks."

I am glad I am single.

Glad I ordered the flowers last Friday for delivery today. The result was a "Squeeeee!" I could hear from over 300 miles away. Pity I have to wait until the week after the Austin meet for any concrete benefits. Still plenty of time to put my foot in my mouth between now and then...

Why do girls have Valentine's day and guys have nothing? We get flowers and the shit girls would want but nothing is in it for us. I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in the U.S., we created a holiday called "Steak and Nobber day" as a rebuttal of sorts. On March 20th, every year we have a day devoted to men and their needs. No cards, no candy, no jewelery, no shitty poetry, no moonlit walks on the beach, no flowers, no calling anybody to wish them a happy anything (aside from the high-five of a male passerby). The only thing involved in this holiday is a nice juicy steak, cooked to the man's preference, followed by a nice, sloppy blowjob by the man's significant other. Nothing special...just steak, blowjob...done.

It's enough to keep a guy appeased, but not too much to ask of the "blower". So come on ladies (in both senses of the phrase) get down and get busy, after all, if it wasn't for us, who would keep your frigid feed warm at night?
