Or did it just not get on here? It was the one about gold.
Edit:
So, I took a job that will take me back to South West Asia (Iraq or Afghanistan) and they flew me out to DC for indoc before sending me here to Alabama for training. Unfortunately, at some point while I was attending school last semester I ran out of money and then credit. So, I tried to pull some of my longer termed assets out of a bank to pay for things till first pay check and they have, so far, refused to give me my money. This left me in an uncomfortable position, considering how expensive it is in DC and how long it might be before I get paid. But then I remembered that I always pack gold in my travel pack in case I can't get cash or cash is no good. *Shrugs* Didn't imagine this scenario when I started doing that, but ... worked out.

Good planning, Shady. How easy is gold to convert to cash when the need arises, and do you have to take a discount on the value when you're in a hurry?ShadyDexter wrote:But then I remembered that I always pack gold in my travel pack in case I can't get cash or cash is no good. *Shrugs* Didn't imagine this scenario when I started doing that, but ... worked out.

If time, chance and random process can produce a platypus why not an ammo tree?

I didn't see it either.CByrneIV wrote:Didn't see it.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

That is mostly one of those where are you at kinda questions. Most cities (even small ones like Prescott) have a coin and gold buyer. They usually go for about 95 to 98 percent of spot. That is not as well as you can do on ebay, but it does the job without the hassle.Flintlock Tom wrote:Good planning, Shady. So, if you can find a changer available, you are good. If not ... well, pawn shops and places that do the 'mail us your gold and we'll send you a check' are your other options. Sometimes if you are in a poor ethnically asian area (thai's and phil's) you can find one who will give you a very good deal on relatively short notice (their countries are PARANOID about currency debasement.) But that entails some bit of trust and/or less favorable terms.
Edit: Like that pic.
