Just wondering. When you guys are in the car and you see someone exhibiting classic road rage, do you call it in to police?
I don't just mean a guy who is tailgating, or speeding, or even a guy who runs a red light intentionally. I mean actual honest to G-d road rage. Flashing brights, getting right up someone's rear bumper, giving the finger, cutting people off, actually sometimes swerving as though they are going to hit someone, etc...
I'm just wondering how many people call the local PD when they see this type of behavior.
I am usually reluctant to bother the po-po with minor stuff, but twice I've actually seen these drivers get bad enough that I've called it in. Once I saw them pull him over. The other time he got away, but the report went on his record.

Depends on conditions. I've been known to honk OR flash my lights at someone who's doing 50 in the left lane when the limit is 75. If I see someone acting totally irrationally, I'd call and have called.

Here in CA, it's illegal to use a cellphone while driving, so how is one to call in a road rager?

Yeah, my wife just got tagged with a cell-phone ticket. We're strangling under the $20 fine, which isn't even a ticket and can't be applied to her driving record.
I told her, "Did you ask the cop if he grew up wanting to be a revenue collector for punitive laws based on fabricated research?" She said no. Sissy.

And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

I don't unless the offense is highly egregious, mainly because in Utah, unless an officer sees the offenses, the reporting party in the situation has to be "willing to sign." Basically, I'd have to be willing to sign my name as the reporting witness on the ticket, and if it gets challenged in court, I'd have to be in attendance for all of the court proceedings, just like the officer would in a standard ticket. Ah the fun things you learn when you work for the fuzz.

I don't even bother.
The State Patrol is always too busy [strike]raising revenue for the state[/strike] writing traffic tickets.

Re: Calling in road rage?
Generally, I live and let live on the road. But I made a call once, a few years ago. Two fucktards in their coffee-can exhaust rice burners were playing The Fast and the Furious on a very crowded NJ TPK. They were cutting in and out of traffic, driving on the shoulder and generally acting like assholes. I witnessed 5 near misses in about 60 seconds.
I must not have been the only one to call because a few miles up, they were on the shoulder with 5 of NJ's finest behind them. A few other cars stopped, ostensibly to report their concerns to the troopers first hand.

being from orlando, it was VERY common to see european tourists that would have 3 or 4 people in a 2 seater convertible... usually kids on parents laps...
i would call those in every time... in fact, any time i see a child out of a car seat on the road i call it in.

I'd call in something egregious. Sometimes though, it's hard to do, like if you're on I-65 between Indy and Chicago on a Sunday night...

If they aren't actively endangering anybody not riding in their car, you should mind your own f___ing business. One of my favorite memories is the whole family of 5 riding top down in the MGA, down some deserted back road. Dad only did it once, but I'm really glad that he did, considering the period of time when we would all fit was relatively short.mekender wrote:being from orlando, it was VERY common to see european tourists that would have 3 or 4 people in a 2 seater convertible... usually kids on parents laps...
