Open for business!

Post by Rumpshot »

Today "Kathi's Books" opened the doors for business. Had quite a few folks that had read about us in the paper and stopped in to check us out. We had a press release published a week ago and bought a Thanksgiving/Christmas ad that was in this week's paper. Most of them indicated they would be back.

The Mrs. did not think she was ready, but we opened up anyway. Lots of things left to do, more books to acquire and put on the shelves, more shelves to build, etc.

We made our first sale in the first hour and our last sale after we were closed.

We are working with SCORE and our counselor stopped in to wish us well. We think he was pleasantly surprised with the store.

Normal business hours will be Mon-Fri 9-5 and Sat 10-3. I will be home to work the Friday and Saturday shifts.

OUTSTANDING!!

Please extend to your wife our congratulations and best wishes for a GREAT first season, with better ones to come!

I realize it's pretty early in the process, but are you eventually considering an Internet presence, so people can shop & order online? Of course, the great thing about doing stuff online is that you can remain in the comfort of your home while shopping and have your purchases delivered to your door.

Please describe the books your wife is carrying for our members who are unfamiliar with what she's selling - who knows, you just might get some orders from GunCounter members. :D

I'm glad Mike posted it already, because that was my first thought as well.

After spending well over a hundred bucks on Amazon and B&N.com today, I'd certainly love to have a web-presence Guncounter member's store to which I could route my commerce.

Wonderful!
Virginia and I are wishing you both all the best.
What's the address of the store in case we're in your neighborhood? P.M. me if you like.

It would be pretty easy to google the store from the name. We are in Chino Valley, AZ.

Yes we will have a web presence, in fact we already do. It just is not anything to write home about, it lists the name and address only at this time.

Due to a gazillion things going on at once, overtime at work, holidays, visits from family members and the continuous ticking of the clock, I am about 6 weeks behind on things to do at and for the store. Internet access and telephone will come along on Friday, a week after we are open.

Thank you all for the well wishes.

The store is a new and used book store. We are operating off an inventory that has accumulated at our house for 10-15 years plus lots of recent donations and recent acquisitions for the store. Mostly it is novels that you would find in the book section of the local grocer or Wal-mart. There are cookbooks, gardening books, children's books, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, romance, some Sci-Fi, and a big selection of MISC. I have the software to catalog all the books. I just have to work on making it into a format that I can publish online.

A quick review of the inventory software indicates I can export an HTML file that should upload quickly and easily with photos of the cover and everything. Will have to examine this in detail in the weeks to come.

Outstanding. Good luck with this venture.

Remind me, do you have a particular emphasis for your inventory? Planning on doing any used books, collectibles, old magz, or going online with the same?

Most excellent.

Success is a mind set (and lots of work) I am sure you will have both aplenty.

Let me know if you have any Women's Home Companion Cookbooks pre-1965 or so...

I checked out your site, and with a little googling, I notice you have the guy selling ass-less chaps for a neighbor. That has to be a sure sign of success. A drink to your success.
