Hi,
I'm Jim, and I live in Northern Virginia. I am an IT Professional (and it's interesting how many of us there are here, must be something about dealing with customers...) and starting to get back into firearms. I'd like to get into trap/skeet but currently know next to nothing about them, and even less about shotguns, so I've got a bit to learn. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi all I'm ChrisO, I'm in England, as a long timer lurker at Kim's sites I decided to follow on to the Gun Counter because I've long enjoyed the knowledge banter at The Gunthing
Many thanks to Chris and the others for setting this up

My name is Steve. My user id combines my initials with my birthdate (January 21, 1972). Incidentally, I share a birthday with Saint John Moses Browning as well as Stonewall Jackson.
I have a more varied background than Forrest Gump. I was a college professor for almost ten years. After the faculty went four years without even a cost of living raise, I bailed. Became a hired gun - ok, armed courier for executive-level dispatches between banks and other financial institutions - then finally went to work for state gubment. I've learned a TON of useful things from Kim and Connie's site over the years and look forward to continuing the tradition here with the Four Horsemen.
While I understand their reasonings for retiring, I'm glad the lads pitched in to try and recreate our little community here. Hopefully, we'll get most of the previous membership and keep the flame alive.
Pax,
SKB

HOWDY! AggieWalt here, I graduated from A&M 2005 with a degree in marine microbial ecology and decided that there was no money there so now I'm working on a Ph.D. at LSU in biomedical science. I love to shoot and fish, and I'm glad there is a new place to hang my hat.

Re: Introduce Yourselves
Guess I should say hi too.
I'm Erik, as in the handle, and live in Scandinavia.
I recently went on a trip to the US, and thanks to the help of the people over at GunThing, I found a range and an instructor and got my first chance to shoot handguns.
Had a great time, and I'm now in the process of trying to join a local gunclub, so I can keep going shooting.
I'm also looking into what it takes to be able to get a handgun license here, just in case I might be able to qualify somewhere down the line.

Howdy! I graduated A&M in '03... Class of '02, though...
Former Powerlifter and Strongman... now a grumpy old man w. questionable joints...
Undergrad was in biotech type stuff... Currently in Law school in Houston, as a relaxing break from being in the ice cream business in SC.
Never did anything really all that interesting -- my main hobbies are fly fishing, law school -- no one should take it seriously -- hunting, shooting, etc. I used to sail and autocross quite a bit, but have neither the time, nor the convenient facilities to do so any longer.

Re: Introduce Yourselves
Hi, Rich checking in.
I'm retired (folks who know me keep pronouncing it wrong, it sounds like retarded). 21 years as an Air Force avionics tech before I got bored and put in my papers, then 15 more years with Raytheon, plus 4-5 with some other companies along the way.
Single, live with a dog I sort of inherited when his owner died.
Got an early AR-15 Sporter (s/n 373), and an early Hi-Power (1935 Lithuanian production run) that I don't shoot anymore. Got some milsurps that I do shoot, and some other toys. Not a great (or even very big) collection, but it suits me.
Aside: Glad to see Doug (Skaramine) has checked in.
Thanks, to the Four Horsemen (of the Assless Chaps?) for leaving room in the asylum for me.

Re: Introduce Yourselves
Hi, All - I've been following Chris and Kim on their blogs for a couple of years now. Thanks, Chris & et. al. for making this board work! Never got into the old Gun Thing board - but I plan to be active on this one.
I'm a 21 year USMC Reserve/Active Army/TXARNG vet, and still serving - currently trying like Hell to get on board full time as a Small Arms Master Gunner. Seems the Army has finally figured out that getting serious about shooting is a GOOD thing. I got into competitive marksmanship when I was asssigned to an Army Hospital - and found out there was NO opportunity to go to the range unless it was for promotion points. So I bought a (post ban - these were the Clinton ban years) Colt Match Target Sporter (like it was any less deadly without a compensator, or bayonet lug!) and a stainless Colt Gold Cup Series 80 1911, ad started shooting. I still haven't earned any 'leg' points, but I keep trying - if I get this job as a Gunner, you can bet I'll have the time and ammo to do so!
Good to meet y'all!

Re: Introduce Yourselves
I found my way over this morning.
I'm Greg, for a living I babysit Unix servers, more or less make them do what they're supposed to.
I live in the quiet suburbs of Morris County NJ.
I spend alot of time reading (mainly sci-fi and history, and my taste in the former is often the latter in disguise). I love guy-type technology/tools/gadgets, from computers to flashlights, guns, cars...
