I think congresscritters should be paid by the state they (allegedly) represent. For example, the Texas delegation would be paid by the State of Texas, with pay rates set by the state legislature, and money allocated as part of the state budget, after all necessary & required spending is covered. When congressweasel pay becomes an item for open debate in the legislature, interesting things may happen... Gee, I'm sorry Senator So-and-So, there wasn't enough money left in the state's budget to pay you after we had to cover all those unfunded mandates Congress rammed down our throats
