My mom bought one of those PolarCare units, too, Mike, and they're the neatest thing since sliced bread. Like I said, I'm the only member of the family without bionic knees, and I'm probably going to get mine done someday. When I was all torn up, it made all the difference in the world to be able to strap that on my knee and ice it down.

They're going to give me something similar, called Cryocuff.

I'll buy it when you're done with it -- I would almost kill for one of those!

Got home Thursday morning. This hurt more that what I thought it would.

Medicine helps. They said the first two or three days home are the worst. Operation went well. I did have a bronchial spasm after I got knocked out, so I also get to go on a diet.
They also cleaned up a little unseen cartilage damage. I get to do exercises six times a day. I go back Tuesday for follow up.

I also get to wear a nice stocking on the leg (no garter belt tho).

Ya gotta at least get a garter. Otherwise where you going to carry your derringer?
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Hard as it is, make sure you do your exercises!

Offer to buy the ice-machine was serious, BTW...

I now understand why people slack on the exercises. Holy crap does this hurt. I'm going through ice like it's going out of style.

No Percocets? :)

Stick with it. The first week of rehabbing any joint is the worst.

ETA: I'm wondering if one of those Polar Care units would help my chronic problem pin-and-plated ankle... Might be good for contrast therapy: 10 mins cold, 10 mins in hot tub, repeat, repeat, repeat...

DD, there are several "slightly used" models on eBay right now.

When they started PT on my shoulder, the [strike]terrorists[/strike] therapists learned all kinds of new words, in several languages! At one point, I was laying on a table while the torturer stretched my arm up above my head, and she said "Quit arching your back!" I said "It's either arch my back or wet my pants, which would you prefer?"

But I saw the doctor on Friday, and I'm going back to unrestricted work a week early, mainly because they did such a good job getting the arm back in shape. Left to my own devices, I don't think I'd have been able to push it as hard as they did. (I'm kind of a wimp.)
But there ain't many troubles that a man caint fix, with seven hundred dollars and a thirty ought six."

Oh, yes, the Percocet!

I have to refill my cuff by hand by lowering and raising the jug. Not working out well. I wish I had a machine driven one.

Thursday night into Friday morning was the worst. I was able to get through all the exercises today, for the first time. They said the second and third day are the worst.
