i was thinking last night... when our contractor got disconnects as work orders.... we never were given specific times to get the job done... just told that they would be done on a specific day...

the order entry system didnt even create work orders for the truck roll either, that was automatically done on the back end...

ive seen both ends of the dispatch system for TWC (worked for them for years)... the only thing that anyone would have seen from the customer service screens on the computer would be the date that billing stopped, not the date that the line was cut... in fact i believe that disco's are even handled on the back end by a separate company...

the simplest way to show if the guy was legit or not would have been to ask to see a work order... he would have had some paperwork... even if it were just a list of addresses

Wouldn't there be a requirement to notify the property owner before entering his/her property to do the work? I've had cable/power guys come onto my property to do work, but they always knock on the door first.

on disconnects... nope... well there might be a requirement... but we never did... no reason to piss off a guy that was getting his cable cut off... easier to let them deal with the call center than to get in your face...

I think the best thing you could have done differently would have been to get the truck's license number.

From what you describe, I'd say that you did well. The most important thing to do was for you to look out for your family.

Actually I'd say the biggest lost opportunity in all this was (assuming he was legit) a gentle renegotiation of the content of your cable service. Those Adult channels are expensive (So I'm told) :D

Glad everything turned out all safe and all right in the end.
