I had valley fever about 12 years ago and I ended up losing 30 pounds (and I only weighed 145 to begin with), broke a rib from coughing so hard and almost lost the upper half of my left lung. Yeah, for me valley fever was some bad shit. Most folks get it and think it is just a cold and it goes away. They tested me over and over and couldn't figure out what was wrong with me...until one time when I was at the doctors office and coughed up some pieces of lung...no, I'm not kidding. They tested the lung tissue and came back with the diagnosis...valley fever. Which at this point had eaten a golf ball sized hole in the upper lobe of my left lung. The doctors explained that the fungus could spread to the brain and then you're truly fucked. The pills I had to take to clear this up cost $10 each and I had to take 2 a day (for over a year)...and insurance refused to pay. Eventually the hole in my lung closed up and I got better...but it damn near bankrupted me.

Good luck Chris. Maybe Diflucan has gotten cheaper since the time when I had to take it or maybe they have something better to treat it with today.

If you can find one, you may want to try either an upper cervical or neurological chiropractor.
I have never heard of one in my life. Who are they and what do they do?

Funny enough, valley fever has been mentioned by several TV shows recently, and NCIS was the only one that got the details right.
NCIS has a tendency to get details right more than most shows. At least details that I know the details of, if that makes sense.

They specialize in resetting the upper couple vertebrae in the neck - the ones which push on the brain stem when they're out of place. I went to one, and my sinuses and shoulder problems cleared up w.in days.

It may not help w. a fungal infection, but it can't hurt. It's apparently a fairly common injury w. broke down jocks -- a category which fits both Chris and I.

I think I heard that it originated in Bakersfield CA. I had it when I was a young fifteen years old. It knocked the hell out of me then. Sorry to hear you been slammed by it. Get well soon.

Okay Chris, you frikken hate Arizona because of the Valley Fever, but where would your next choice be?? I'm asking because we're still considering leaving this sinking state except if we move, there's no moving back with the housing prices being what they are and we can't afford TWO homes and we can't really move yet because of my mom.
