flying bodies can and do kill people in other cars during collisions... people like that are dangerous as soon as they get behind the wheel.Netpackrat wrote:If they aren't actively endangering anybody not riding in their car, you should mind your own f___ing business. One of my favorite memories is the whole family of 5 riding top down in the MGA, down some deserted back road. Dad only did it once, but I'm really glad that he did, considering the period of time when we would all fit was relatively short.mekender wrote:being from orlando, it was VERY common to see european tourists that would have 3 or 4 people in a 2 seater convertible... usually kids on parents laps...
i would call those in every time... in fact, any time i see a child out of a car seat on the road i call it in.

Re: Calling in road rage?
The other day four of us truckers were running together on a two lane highway (US 36 in central to NE KS) hauling oversized fiberglass tanks. We were all passed by another trucker who ran us and oncoming traffic off the road passing us. His truck apparently only ran about seventy. We ate his ass on the CB to no avail, but we did call the Highway Patrol and his dispatcher (thanks to the 800 number on his trailer).
The HP dispatcher told us they'd have someone on it right away. The company dispatcher asked for complete details and at least acted like they were going to do something. We met a highway patrolman about a half hour later, and we could still see the offending truck about a mile in front of us. What a waste of time. I'm hoping the response would be better had this idiot connected head on with someone where blood was involved, but ignoring the complaint like that had four of us wondering.

A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

Yes but I've got an ace in the hole. Motorola and a recorded line.Ben S wrote:Just wondering. When you guys are in the car and you see someone exhibiting classic road rage, do you call it in to police?
I don't just mean a guy who is tailgating, or speeding, or even a guy who runs a red light intentionally. I mean actual honest to G-d road rage. Flashing brights, getting right up someone's rear bumper, giving the finger, cutting people off, actually sometimes swerving as though they are going to hit someone, etc...
I'm just wondering how many people call the local PD when they see this type of behavior.
I am usually reluctant to bother the po-po with minor stuff, but twice I've actually seen these drivers get bad enough that I've called it in. Once I saw them pull him over. The other time he got away, but the report went on his record.
And I will swear to the incident as the complaintant.
But then I'm paid to be an ahole.

That's not road rage, that's two wannabe GP riders playing Biker Boyz, and about to take themselves out of the gene pool. The cage drivers just need to drive normal, and don't do anything out of the ordinary, like running off the road to avoid them. Bike vs car nearly always winds up heavily in the car's favor.rightisright wrote:Two fucktards in their coffee-can exhaust rice burners were playing The Fast and the Furious on a very crowded NJ TPK. They were cutting in and out of traffic, driving on the shoulder and generally acting like assholes. I witnessed 5 near misses in about 60 seconds.

If this sounds harsh, remember that I currently ride a ZR-7S; and yes, I do speed on occasion while riding it, but I don't do the really stupid stuff in traffic.
I stay on the lookout for bikes when in a car, but if a biker is acting like a total ass, I'm not going to put my Ford Escape or Mrs. Termite's minivan in the ditch and total it just to avoid him/her. A biker sideswipping me or clipping my bumper and going down will not trash my suv/minivan nearly as bad as hitting a deep ditch.
Yeah, I know this sounds cold, but I'm a biker too, and I'm telling the other bikers: "Don't be an asshole".

He wasn't talking about bikes - he said "in" not "on" and the coffee-can adds to this.
Add on that the "shoulder" stuff also - not bikes but idiot "ricers" with their little "muscle" cars.
I can, have and will call in any of these jackasses. I've done cell-phone video and sent it by e-mail so they have evidence.
I agree with the "mind your business" in re: kid seats - I don't really mind if stupid people want to remove themselves or their progeny from the gene pool - but when they're endangering me or MY kids, I WILL ensure it is known.
I've called more than one trucker's dispatcher, or commercial vehicle driver's company - let's get these idiots off the road before they kill someone other than themselves.
