Challenging certain aspects of gun control based on racial discrimination?

Post by Langenator »

Now, I generally think playing the race card is for losers, but bear with me.

The right to keep and bear and bear arms is an enumerated right. The right to vote is not - the Constitution only specifies that it can't be denied based on certain specific criteria.

Now, leftist 'voter rights' groups have challenged voter ID laws on the basis that such laws are racially discriminatory (they almost always assume that racial minorities are poor, and couch their challenges this way.) These challenges have been successful in some federal court circuits.

So why hasn't anyone challenged the ID requirement to buy a gun in those circuits on the same basis, citing their own rulings as precedent? If the requirement to provide ID to exercise one right is racially discriminatory, then that same requirement should be racially discriminatory for other rights as well.

As the meme man says, change my mind.

Sure, I enjoy using the Left's tools against them.

Even though the roots of most gun control in the US are racist, this tactic won't go anywhere in court "because guns."

You're expecting logical consistency from gun banners.

Well, what I would like is logical consistency from the courts.

So would I, but even with the Trump effect on the courts. He has seated hundreds of judges. still way more than half are lefty nutbags.

BTW, at least politically, this is not novel. The fact that the pistol restrictions in Missouri were instituted to keep blacks from getting guns was a definite part of the debate when they were repealed.

One does hope for intellectual and logical consistency cy from judges, that’s supposed to be what got them to the interview in the first place.
Vonze90 and Langenator are correct, the only difficulty is finding the correct plaintiff to avoid the lack of harm restriction on suing.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

According to moonbat rules, if something has a "disparate impact" on race, whether or not it's racially neutral, it's bad.
