Surgery Wednesday

Post by Rumpshot »

Have not had a bite of solid food since early April. Great difficulty swallowing water. Going in on Wednesday to have my throat dilated, again. Hopefully successful this time. Had it done in August, but had bleeding issues and it closed up again.

While we are in the operating room, will also have my stoma dilated. Not sure just what/how they will do this one. My stoma has closed up too. It is now about the size of a normal nostril. I get pretty winded, pretty easily. It also makes it difficult to clean my speech prosthesis. Also awkward to clean my trachea through such a tight hole. Sometimes, especially overnight, I get some dime-sized "snot" chunks that block my airway and need to be pulled out.

Speaking of speech. I don't talk much anymore. It is really difficult to get the airflow past my pseudo vocal cords with my throat closed up between the prosthesis and my mouth. So after surgery, I should be able to talk again.

Good Luck! Pulling for you to get the best result.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

I'm not old--It's too early to be this late.

Good luck, of course the wife probably likes you being quiet.
