You should see the pictograms for the controls on a German large format printing press. They're like Egyptian hieroglyphics. They used to dumb them down for Americans, labeling them in English, but stopped it ten years or so ago.

Actually large portions of it going directly from pre- to post-, without stopping at actual 'literate' along the way.

No, its a case of language, there's on screen menus in English, but all the hard buttons are pictograms. You don't let illiterates operate a saw that costs more than a Porsche..Greg wrote:Post-literate society.HTRN wrote:I think im going to take my portaband to work tomorrow, as the damn new behringer saw is slightly less complicated to operate than a shuttle launch..

It has nothing to do with literacy the way youre implying with pre and post, more like, buried in the settings is a language selector for the software, so they can ship them anywhere in the world, and not have to do special hardware..

We had some large format guillotine cutters made in Switzerland that were the same way. I'd occasionally go out while the operators were at break, get into the service menus, and switch them to Japanese. My humor was not appreciated.HTRN wrote:It has nothing to do with literacy the way youre implying with pre and post, more like, buried in the settings is a language selector for the software, so they can ship them anywhere in the world, and not have to do special hardware..
