That's one thing that always fascinated me about perceived race ever since I read a novel where a native American guy realized that on one hand, it was irritating that all the Indians looked the same to white people, but on the other hand, it was hardly as though he could tell an Irishman from a Swede; they were all just white to him. It's also something I've noticed personally; depending on what kind of environment I'm in and for how long, I get used to how different people look and can spot the little differences, but it goes if I've been away too long.

I suppose it's a cheap comparison, but every once in awhile some video of Lakenheath F-15s or Moody A-10s pops up and I think "don't I know that guy?" for a few seconds before I realize just about every military guy looks the same to me now. Yeah, the military emphasizes uniform appearance, but still. I used to be able to look into a crowded room of military men and see individuals, now they all look standard issue.
