My girl has threatened to leave me if I don't do a better job of clearing my driveway this winter. Previously, I had a plow on at least one of my work trucks, but plowing insurance went through the roof, so subsequent trucks are now plowless.

I considered an ATV, but the driveway and back drive to the shop are too much for one.

Seeing as I like Jeeps and gf does, too. Why not kill two birds w. one stone?

I would only plow my yard w. it... no commercial work. And it would be fun to take the top off in the summer and tool around. Or weld steel plates to the sides and front and go Mad Max if the Ebola comes ashore.

meh... just get her a snowblower for the driveway AND the a Jeep for you (but not a YJ when you can get a TJ for the same money). A plow on a rig with a D30 front-end is a good way to have a busted down Jeep and no snow plow!

If the driveway is too huge for an ATV plow to be practical, then it's probably also too big to realistically use a snowblower on...

A Jeep with a plow will be okay for doing one driveway; if you were going to be plowing commercially that might be different. I would not buy a Jeep that came with a plow, because you won't know what kind of abuse it has suffered. If I were buying a Jeep to plow with, I would buy a Jeep, and then buy a plow. I'm sure it's more expensive, but you stand less chance of ending up with a trashed rebuild project. And +1 on the TJ. They are just a better Jeep overall.

Good points. I am also considering a small tractor instead. I used to have a 4x4 Kubota that was on long-term loan from a buddy (divorce thing... don't ask ) The bucket worked pretty well for snow as long as the driver was careful to keep it angled properly. And it was good use on tight jobsites where we couldn't get a 580 or track machine in.

The first question you need to answer is if that is a threat or an opportunity. ?

I think that a 4X4 tractor with a front-end loader would be a dandy snow-moving device.

Get a midsized Bobcat and put a 6-7 foot plow on it. Honest to gawd, best snow clearing machine I've ever seen.

I don't know how those turf tires are going to handle snow, though. I may have to invest in some ag tires or chains.

That looks like fun. I would guess chains are going to be mandatory.

It's 4wd and weighs ~2500#, but those tires are designed to minimize damage to lawns, not traction. If I can find a good deal, I'll buy another set of wheels w. ag or industrial tires for use in snow and muddy jobsites.
