And just think, now they've come out with a routine 2,000 yard shooter: The .338 Xtreme Tactical, with its case based on the .505 Gibbs:
Recent decades have seen a dramatic growth in interest in long-range riflery on the part of military and law enforcement precision shooters, target competitors and hunters. Today, skilled shooters can make shots at a mile or more, thanks to advances in guns, cartridges, bullets and optics. How much do you suppose his barrel weighs? It looks like a sewer pipe.
Years from now our children and grandchildren living in a 3rd world America will ask "What were you doing on March 21st 2010 and why didn't you stop it?"

I can't tell from the photo, but Lilja lists it's target barrel contour for .50 BMG as 1.75" for 7", then tapering down to 1.5" @34-36". Weight is 18lbs, 4oz for a 34".

It can't be a 2.5" at the muzzle.

Why?

Because it's a BAT action(confirmed elsewhere) and they're either 2", or 2.5" in diameter. Which means that at most, it's 2.5" at the breech end. And seeing as how it visibly tapers... My guess? It's either 2" or 1.75".

I think the scope is a Mark 4. I'm not sure about the brake, I've seen that model before, but for the life of me, can't recall where. K&P, perhaps?
