Is Jiminez any good?

I was down at a pawn shop today, picked up a nice Ruger 22 revolver for 200 bucks because I felt like it. And he had several Jiminez? .380 pistols, little pocket guns for about that same amount. I don't actually have any compact or subcompact handguns. Nor do I have something in .380.

So do these little pistols have a rep? Good or bad?

Latest incarnation of Jennings Saturday Night Specials - I guess marginally better than nothing.

Not really. You're better off buying a HiPoint.

Seriously. If you want a cheap gun, get a HiPoint.

With hi point doing the dirt cheap but reliable and good service; how do these ring of fire guns not go permanent bankrupt?

A lot of people like to get by cheap and know nothing of guns.

They indeed do this periodically.
They've been through 5-6 iterations.
Raven. Phoenix. Davis. Lorcin.
Jennings. Bryco. Jimenez.

The founder of Raven, George Jennings, is the father of the founder of Jennings, Bruce Jennings. Jennings renamed his company Bryco after it was sued into bankruptcy.

Jim Waldorf started Lorcin, he was a high school friend of Jennings and used their designs. Lorcin was sued into bankruptcy due to defects in the guns.

Jim Davis founded Davis Industries from Raven/Phoenix and is the former manager of Raven and is the son in law of George Jennings. Sued into bankruptcy.

Phoenix Arms was founded after Raven burnt down by the ex-wife of George Jennings and his children.

Paul Jimenez founded Jimenez Arms and was the manager of Bryco Arms who bought their assets after Bryco declared bankruptcy after the wrongful death lawsuit of a child shot by a malfunctioning Bryco.

They all use the same designs.

Their modus operendi is to open up and make guns using their standard design and molds. When regulatory or civil actions drive them out of business, auction the assets to a relative and re open with a new name.

Jimenez and Phoenix are the current names.

Bruce Jennings, is currently in Club Fed for being a kiddie-porn distributor and collector.

How would one improve their designs to something functional, yet affordable?
