Here is my OST cheek pad on my AK. I made it from an OD sleeping pad from the surplus store, cut and shaped it with a single edge razor blade, and attached it to the stock with shoe goo. I actually bought a fancy Blackhawk adjustable cheek rest for this rifle, only to find that it couldn't be adjusted to fit the AK stock very well. I think this looks and works better.

If it's stupid and it works, then it isn't stupid. ;)

Huh? I thought a redneck cheek rest consisted of a squirrel taped to the buttstock!

My inner gunsmith is properly horrified.

All this thread needs now for official WECSOG status is a picture of a Dremel.

I'm with HTRN on this one. You couldn't run down to the local Goodwill store, buy an old leather purse, then cut and make a nice lace on cheekrest?

What kind of hogs are you going after? Rooters, ferals, or Javelina? What part of Texas are you hunting?

Big ones. My buddy who leases the ranch has seen some 200-300 lbers around dusk.

West TX.

You may get a shot at some Javelinas since you're out west. They stay away from east Texas 'cuz they know I'm here.

Good luck. I hope you put a dent in the porker population. Just remember the ones 150 lbs and under are more tender and juicy than the big ones.

No promises, but I might be able to "get away" on Saturday (the 28th) evening.
