The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .

Large Language Model. ChatGPT and Gemini (formerly Google Bard) being prime examples. Many chat ‘assistants’ on websites are now powered by som flavor of these things. Sounding human-like in casual conversation is fairly easy for them now, but in specialized areas of expertise it’s still more difficult for them to sound like they’re not a bot.
