Ammo prices

Postby blackeagle603 » Thu Nov 02, 2017 3:18 pm

The cure for high prices is high prices. Same as the cure for low prices are low prices.

After 8 recent years of the firearm/ammo salesman of the century in office, it looks like firearm and ammo supply must be catching up with demand.

Anyone else seeing unusually attractive prices on bulk centerfire handgun ammo? Just ordered a 1000rds of Magtech that will cost me 18c/rd delivered. With my "free" brass and bulk cast boolit buys I can still beat that price reloading. But at that price even cranking out a 1000 rds on my LNL-AP with case feeder isn't a huge win for the time spent. I'll still that press to consume my stock/build up reserves but at 18c a round and with CA ammo-registration buying regs to kick in January 1... Figured I'd get ahead a bit.

I've been noticing lower prices, too, via emails I receive. I already have more ammo than I can swim with comfortably, but it's got me thinking I should get some more.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Local fun store blowing out Magtech 9mm for $79.99/500 as case sale only (no individual boxes.)
223 has been coming down too.
Still no consistent supply of 22lr yet.
I've pretty much stopped selling brass. I get more just scrapping common calibers.

Considering I've been spending more time with my motorcycle than my guns, I think I need to make more time to burn off all the ammo I've been accumulating. Anyone want to help?

I owe you some. Come to my house, and we'll blow through mine.

.22LR is available here at Cabelas and Walmart (both in crook county so subject to their draconian ammo tax). Walmart the next county over is always sold out of .22LR and often low on the better priced centerfire calibers. No real difference in prices over the last year.

Its also harder to get ammo shipped here; crook county banned shipments to individuals for several years; state law overrode that more recently but a lot of places with the best prices still won't ship here.

The temptation to drive to a nearby state and load up during a sale is significant...

My local Academy has starting putting some 22LR out with the rest of the ammo. They still keep a good selection behind the counter, but I don't know if there are any daily limits. A 100rd box of CCI standard velocity, 40 grain is $7.99.

Local Walmart has .22LR in bulk packs, with the best deal being Federal AutoMatch for $14.99 per box of 325 rounds, and no limit.
