Though I, for one, really would appreciate it if someone could explain the different XX Wolf and XX Bear Russian ammo branding, who makes it, what it is, etc. That is, if there were any rhyme, reason or consistency involved.

It is my understanding that the various flavors of Bear ammo are made by Barnaul. I had some of if when I first started with AKs and it all worked fine. Better quality control than Wolf. Wolf is more of a marketing organization than an ammo maker. The "Tulammo" that you see around is made by Tula, and supposedly is what used to be the plain vanilla Wolf.
