Latest knife completed.

Just finished this one today for a lady who wants it for a birthday present for her husband.

0170-6C steel, desert ironwood handles.

Thanks for the kind words. I made this one for a colleague who is giving it to her husband for a birthday present. I'm charging her $75.00 for it.

The blade started life as a Cold Steel Master Carbon V hunter blank. I bought it (along with three others) from a jobber who bought out a bunch of steel from Camillus when they sold off after going out of business. It came to me already heat treated and rough flat ground but with some rust.

I reground it, and re profiled it. I did a different profile on each of the four blanks just playing with design. I'll probably keep one of the four blades for myself and sell or give away the others as I complete them.

That is a very handsome knife. It would make a great camp knife for spring rendezvous.

What about reworking old files, like Anza Knives does? That might be cheaper in the long run.

That's how Buck Knives got started. Alvin Buck bought a bunch of G.I. surplus file blanks after WWII and started turning them into "Buck Knives."

I've made some knives out of files. You have to re-temper them as they are too hard for a knife in most cases.
