Doing the same in a Clemson and sinking 5. Shoot your torps from 3 klicks, circle around and shoot the launchers on the other side. Sinking 4 including 3 BBs with an Isokaze.
Guess they're not Mark Fourteens, then. :P (The American torpedoes, that is.)

Nah, if the US ships had realistic torps half of them wouldn't run true and most of the rest would not go boom upon hitting something.

As it is, US ships in the game have US torps range, which is much less than the Japanese, and also a lot slower than the Japanese ones. And yet time and time again I see players throwing out US torps at 8-9 klicks like they expect them to hit something.

Yeah, gotta balance it somewhere.

I mean, nobody would want to play Germans in WOT or WT if the wunderwaffe had frequent breakdowns. I used to joke that an actual "realism mod" for Company of Heroes 2 would include:

German units lose veterancy levels the more they fight
German vehicles run out of gas and randomly suffer critical engine failures
Buying elite German troops ends the spawn timer with a message saying they’ve been redeployed elsewhere but thanks for the resources
The elite German armored unit is a Panzer IV J

I used the recent x3xp weekend to get out of the Pensacola and into the New Orleans. The big issue with the Pensacola is that it's designed to be played allot differently than the previous USN cruisers and that the stock grind it particularly bad. I also got a Marblehead from a Reddit contest and that thing prints out credits. The furious taco is an interesting ship. The buffed it, but it seems like half the time im aiming the guns by moving the ship cause the turrets are to slow and weirdly placed.

Ive also been messing around with skins a bit, trying to clean up the rust buckets that Wargaming gave us. Note to Wargaming: USN ships should not look they spent the last 20 years tied up at Vladivostok.

And yes that's the correct hull number. I have a cammo version too that someone else made that I used as a base for this. I am going to try to make a skin of my own that shows some wear and rust, but not the excessive amounts Wargaming seems to think ships have.

It depends on the time period. At the start of the war, the North Carolina class were brand new, and sailors from the Washington marveled at how rusty the Prince of Wales was. Years later in the Pacific, some had taken to nicknaming Washington "Rusty W."

It also makes sense for some of the earlier ships, though maybe not to the degree seen in-game. The last Clemson-class destroyer was launched in 1920, after all. Still, maintenance happened.

Couple of videos of me running my Murmansk the other night... The 2nd one is really a slug fest, I think I hit every enemy ship on the map with at least one volley.

The retraining thing is dumb. Y'know, at least with War Thunder, they only hit you with the crew retraining cost when you buy a new vehicle. I can only imagine what the process must be like in WoWS.

Admiral: Captain, you are one of our most experienced and trained COs. Your service has been exemplary.
Captain: Thank you, sir.
Admiral: So, I've got a present for you: I'm reassigning you to our newest and most advanced warship.
Captain: HADURRRR WUT IS BOTE

Because it's either brain damage your commander or entrust your shiny New Mexico to just some random guy you shanghai'd from a bar, apparently. Of course, the only way to bypass it is with "real money" currency.

Yea it's a bit annoying to only be able to halfway train your crack captain with in game currency and half to play your stock ship with a gimped captain. The best part is that I think again unlike in War Thunder a captain can only be trained on one ship at a time so you can just take you high level captain and send him down to tier 5 to make some money unless you have an premium ship.

I think that WT is, in general, a lot less "pay to win" than World of Anything. There are still some elements there, like the truly ridiculous grind for tank crew experience that is very tempting to bypass with real money. But I think WT gets it right in some important ways:

1.) There is no need -or even a game mechanic- to sell any vehicle you've purchased. Once it's yours, it's yours, and the crew assigned to it will always keep their proficiency with it, so:
2.) Crews do not need to be trained out of "level stupid" the moment they're put in a new vehicle
3.) Up to a point, you can buy more crews with in-game currency, instead of real money.
4.) At no point are you actually forced to spend real money simply to progress.

Charging real money-based currency for "demounting" upgrades originally purchased with in-game currency when you sell a ship, avoiding idiotic commander retraining, and "premium" consumables are pretty bad mechanics, IMO.

Also, what's the point of buying Premium ships if you have to spend money to convert their earned XP to XP that can actually be used? Might as well just keep an "elite" ship in reserve and use that.

Finally, given that there's a "real money" option to redistribute your commanders' skill points, I'm surprised there's no similar option to buy additional skill points.
