Spitfire 944

Post by Darrell »

Cool short film of a US WWII pilot and the Spitfire he flew in the war. Yes, a US Spitfire. There's a story behind the film, and finding the pilot.

Neat! Thanks!
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Eagle Squadrons, Americans who joined the RAF for the Battle of Britain, flew Spitfires for a short time and acquitted themselves well. Additionally, the US had Spitfire recon aircraft in small numbers throughout the war. The Eagle Squadrons later became the 4th Fighter Group of the USAAF, now the 4th Fighter Wing based at Seymour-Johnson AFB in North Carolina.
